Cross International Alliance hosting 2nd annual Golf Classic, raising funds to feed starving children in Guatemala

Boca Raton, FL (Oct. 5, 2011) — Cross International Alliance, the ecumenical Christian relief and development partnership between Cross International and Cross Catholic Outreach, is set to hold its 2nd Annual Golf Classic Oct. 22 at the Boca Raton Country Club.

The goal of this event is to raise $50,000 to support Esperanza de Vida (“Hope of Life”) ministry in rural Guatemala, a ministry working tirelessly to rescue starving and malnourished children and families that would otherwise have no access to food or emergency medical treatment.

“In America, it’s so easy to take for granted that we have food every day, hospitals just down the road and a roof over our heads. But for families in rural Guatemala, just one of those things would be considered a luxury,” said Chairman Michael Savidge. “We want to do everything we can to help these poor and hurting people.”

The Golf Classic will include a four person scramble round of golf, followed by a luncheon and awards ceremony. Corporations or individual donors can pledge additional sponsorship gifts toward the project ranging from $250 to $10,000. All proceeds will support Esperanza de Vida and enable them to continue their life-sustaining work.

“Our heart is to take care of the poorest of the poor, people who have no one else to reach out to and show them the love of Christ. But we can only do that if the local community joins with us to support these children, families and projects,” said Jim Cavnar, President of Cross International Alliance.
